ACADEMY DEANS LUCAS AND ASHLEIGH BARTLETT

Lucas and Ashleigh both share a passion for discipleship and specifically empowering people to step into the fullness of their potential in God. When they are not on campus, they are the senior pastors of Surf Church Phillip Island, a dynamic and innovative faith community that is dedicated to contextualising gospel truth in the reality of the surf community. They also coordinate Christian Surfers as a movement in Victoria overseeing the four missions across coastlines of their beloved home state.

With the support of the Christian Surfers Australia national team, Lucas and Ashleigh founded CSALT in Australia in 2018 with a dream of developing young leaders who would be bold enough to change not just their local beaches but the world around them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. CSALT is heading into its fourth year and as a discipleship course has journeyed with 26 amazing young adults to date, witnessing their challenges and their achievements, and seeing the growth God had intended for them throughout CSALT come to fruition.

LUCAS ACADEMY DEAN

Lucas has been in the Christian Surfers family since he was a grommet of just 16. He has seen what God can do through good Godly discipleship in his life and for this reason he was inspired to start the CSALT Academy.

Lucas has had a colourful professional background from chaplaincy, youth work, church and para church leadership to more creative pursuits as a musician and a film producer. Lucas specific role within CSALT is... well... mainly be the big daddy as the students call him. His focus is on discipleship, goal setting and pastoral care of the students as well as vision, direction, logistics and operations.

He takes a very hands-on role with the practical nature of the much anticipated CSALT road trips and facilitates the online classroom activities and lessons. Lucas primary concern is the growth, the learning and the well-being of the CSalt students as they become who God is growing them to be in Him through experiencing the course.

ASHLEIGH ACADEMY DEAN

Ashleigh has a wealth of experience in pastoral church leadership and education. She completed her Bachelor of theology at a young age and dived straight into her calling as a pastor where she has operated in the roles of worship pastor, associate pastor and now senior pastor at Surf Church. Ashleigh brings a mountain of knowledge and experience to CSALT Academy and her passion for growing young minds in the things of God is an unwavering inspiration.

Ashleigh draws on her biblical knowledge and ministry experience and applies it to the CSalt academy curriculum. Because of this experience She’s able to streamline the necessary truths that are imperative to our students before stepping out in faith and ministry in today’s world. Ashleigh’s primary role is in the education of our CSALT students and making sure they produce results of the highest academic quality.
